Thursday 7th July 4a.m. Mossel
Bay, let the journey begin.
Christo , Anton Snr.,Anton jnr. and Gerrie
Hendricks started the trek, Peter was picked
up in George, Katty in Wilderniss and Steve
and Rob Gordon in Knysna. 18 hrs. later,,
and much fun and sponsors product, we
arrived in Margate. This was not the end of
the day for some.[What goes on the bus stays
on the bus.
Friday saw us meet up with Ken Spencer and
Brendan Shamrock at the Wild Coast golf
course. Here we played against 10 Southern
Natal stalwarts, a good time was had by all.
5a.m. Sat. morning saw 8 keen Southern Cape
Nomads shooting off to Selbourne, by all
accounts they enjoyed themselves. Peter and
Steve attended the National Management
meeting at Port Shepstone.
Sunday morning early[ much to early for
some] we gathered at Port Shepstone for the
main event of the weekend, the Southern
Challenge.
This is an annual event played between
Southern Cape and Southern Natal. The venue
alternates between Southern Cape and Natal.
At the end of the day Southern Cape were
awarded the trophy for the second year in a
row, this is no mean feat , winning away
from home.
This year the Southern Challenge was played
on the same day as the Southern Natal Andrew
Mentis Day and an annual challenge between
Southern Natal, Natal and Gauteng. 148
players on the same course as next years
National Tournament, a good practice round.
The journey back was a lot quieter but also
good fun.
For newer Nomads this is a good way to learn
more about the organization and meet Nomads
from other clubs
Nomads is not just about one Sunday a month
